Dj Mel pretty much runs Austin. He is the only hip hop buyer for the towns largest record store, Waterloo Records. As a matter of fact, if you are in Austin for only 1 week, chances are you can check out Mel several times. He has residencies at Plush every Friday and at Nasty's every Monday. And if that's not enough, he can sometimes be seen spinning with Baby G, NickNack or Tatsu.
Mel is not only one of the most active deejays in the scene, he is one of the best. There aren't many deejays who can spin Tom Petty as well as J5 and have their mixing be on point the whole night. Go to one of his gigs and be prepared to be schooled. |
