How to control your procs exact speed

Postby nicknack » Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:51 am

I have read several articles on how to optimize your laptop for audio production and/or DJing, but few people touch on one important factor which is the processor speed. These days most laptops are Intel based and have speedstep technology that allow the clock speed of the processor to be dynamically changed by software. Typically these changes aren’t viewable or editable by users unless you use third party software (see below).

Nice article. I can't remember what I used on my gaming machine to OC it. I never really had the need to do it on my MBP, especially now that it's old. I might have to though once I get a new one.

Yeah, I only used speedswitching on my old Vaio just bc I felt more comfortable knowing it was running full bore when I needed it to.

My MacBook is about 2 years old and while it doesn't need it, I hate the way that Snow Leopard and apps that need more power don't bump that shit up when you're on A/C. I mean, you don't have to go full tilt to where the fan blows insane, but a big bump would help A LOT with apps like Ableton, Serato, Photoshop, etc...
